Question?

Because lack of space, I have to place the house in front of the window in my office. Unfortunately it catches a lot of sunlight which fades the colors of the tiny paper plants and flowers:( Does anyone know how I can protect the colors against the light???

I add 2 pics of the Hosta's I made and didn't show yet.

This weekend I'm going with my dearest friend Sylvia (lotjesdollhouse) to the Apeldoorn fair:) My wish list is very long, I hope to show you next week my purchases!

Ro, perhaps you allready can start making a survival kit for me this time:)))

  1. Sab, I spray this Protectant spray by Krylon specifically for paper. It is called Preserve It. Krylon also has a spray against sun ray called UV resistant spray. Think it is made to protect outdoor fabrics.

  3. Hi Sab. I had the same problem here and Pascal Garnier gave me the advice to try matte varnish spray. Anyhow I found out that the fading of the sun made a very nice and natural looking effect on my peonies :-)
    Have fun in Apeldoorn!

  6. Hello Sab! There are always problems and challenges with either one thing or another! It has been informative to find out how others have tackled the problem of fading paper flowers because I didn't have an answer to that question, but I would like to say that the sunlight streaming through the doll's house windows must be enormously attractive and I would hate for it to be moved as it must give you much pleasure seeing it illuminated so beautifully!
Have a wonderful time at the Apeldoorn Fair. I can hardly wait to see what you come back with!

  7. Hi Sab! Your Hostas are superb, so realistic. I cannot add anything to what others have counseled regarding the sun's rays. Have fun at the fair with Sylvia. Happy shopping! Shopping trips are the best. I'm off to Michael's today.

  13. Hi Sab, What a tough question. I gave my Mum a dollhouse shop a couple of Christmas's ago and recently found that many items had faded (quite badly). Mum had positioned the shop next to a window. Our solution was to put a light cloth over the entire house. Not the prettiest thing, but hopefully it will slow down the fading. Your house is too beautiful to fade. Hopefully you will get lots of suggestions. IndyPoppy.

  14. Hi Sab,

Your house is exquisite! I'm not sure how to stop the fading, perhaps as Lisa Marie suggested above a spray might work? Hmm..makes me wonder, we have moved both our dollhouses into our dining room, which has lots of sunlight in it, it's not direct light, but wonder if that might affect ours as well?

    Many mini hugs,
    Jackie
